Add New Article

Adding a new article in kolum helps you systematically manage purchased or produced goods across your supply chain and imports while maintaining accurate records for your organisation. Articles act as anchors within kolum, allowing you to link suppliers, track production and purchase data, and manage emissions data consistently across your workflows. You can create articles even if all supplier details are not yet available, ensuring you can continue your data structuring and link supplier details later when ready.

When you link suppliers to an article in kolum, these suppliers will also see the linked articles on their side within kolum. This enables suppliers to provide emissions data for the articles if required, helping you collect verified data directly from suppliers to keep your records up to date.

How to Add a New Article

1. Go to Articles from the sidebar.

2. Click Add New at the top-right of the Articles page.

3. Fill in the following fields:

Article Details:

• Name (mandatory) – The name of your article.

• Description (optional) – Additional information about the article.

• Reference Number Type (optional) – E.g., GTIN, EAN, SKU.

• Reference Number (optional) – The specific identifier you use internally or with customs.

• Type (mandatory) – Select Produced if the article is manufactured within your own facilities, or Purchased if sourced from suppliers.

CN Classification:

• CN Code (Mandatory) – You can select the customs classification for your article.

Parties and Details Involved in Customs:

• If the article is Produced, you will:

  • Add Country of Origin (mandatory).

  • Select your Production Facility.

  • Optionally add Production Method.

  • Optionally add Direct and Indirect Emissions if already known.

• If the article is Purchased, you will:

  • Click Add Supplier to add one or multiple suppliers for the article.

  • For each supplier, add:

    • Country of Origin (mandatory).

    • Optionally select Production Facility if the supplier has added one.

    • Optionally select Production Method.

    • Optionally add Direct and Indirect Emissions if already known.

1. Click Create Article to save.

Important to Note

• You must select the Country of Origin before saving, regardless of whether the article is produced or purchased.

• It is recommended to add suppliers first before adding the article to simplify linking, but you can also add suppliers later by editing the article.

• You can add a new article without suppliers and link suppliers later if needed.

• You can remove suppliers before saving or while editing using the delete button next to the supplier entry.

• When you add suppliers to an article, suppliers will see these articles on their side in kolum and can provide emissions data if needed.

• Produced articles are linked to your internal production facilities for emissions tracking, while purchased articles will help track supplier-related emissions for your imports.

After Adding

• Your article will appear in the Articles list.

• Linked suppliers will see the article and can provide emissions data if needed.

• You can edit the article at any time to update details, add or remove suppliers, or adjust emissions data.
