Quick Start - Trader
As a trader using kolum, you can manage emissions data for the goods you sell to your EU customers without exposing your supplier network. kolum helps you gather, calculate, and share emissions data easily while maintaining confidentiality and control over your supply chain.
This guide will help you understand how to set up your kolum account, manage your suppliers, and provide emissions data to your EU customers confidently and efficiently.

Step 1: Getting Started: Accept Your Invitation and Log In
Your EU customer will send you an invitation to join kolum. Check your email for this invitation.
Click the link in your email to create your kolum account and set your password.
Once logged in, you will see your Buyers section where your EU customers are listed.
This gives you immediate visibility into which customers need emissions data for which articles.
Step 2: Invite Your Team to Assist You
You can invite your colleagues to help manage your suppliers, articles, and emissions data in kolum.
Navigate to My Organization → Users.
Click to invite additional users by entering their email addresses and assigning appropriate roles.
Invited users will receive an email to set up their access.
This ensures your team can collaboratively manage the emissions data process efficiently.
Step 3: Manage Your Suppliers Confidentially
One of the key benefits of kolum is that your supplier network remains confidential. Your EU customers cannot see who your suppliers are within kolum.
You can:
Add and manage your suppliers in the Suppliers section.
Invite your suppliers to kolum if you want them to provide emissions data directly to you within the platform.
Add production facilities for your suppliers if needed.
This allows you to gather accurate emissions data from your suppliers while maintaining full control over your supply chain.
Step 4: View Your Buyers and Linked Articles
In the Buyers section, click on your EU customer’s name to view the articles for which they require emissions data.
For each article, you will see:
The product details and CN code.
The option to Provide Emission Data for that article.
This clear structure ensures you know exactly what is needed, reducing the complexity of emissions data collection.
Step 5: How to Provide Emissions Data for Your Articles
When your EU customers request emissions data, you have two methods:
Option 1: Provide Emissions Data Directly If you already have calculated emissions data for your articles, you can enter direct and indirect emissions values directly in kolum. This is quick if your suppliers have provided you with the data or if you have your own calculations.
Option 2: Request Emissions Data from Your Suppliers If you need to gather emissions data, you can request it directly from your suppliers within kolum:
Select the supplier linked to the article.
Send a data request for the emissions data you need.
Your supplier can enter emissions data in kolum, which will automatically sync with your article, ready for you to review and submit to your EU customer.

Tips for a Smooth Workflow
Ensure your supplier list is accurate and up to date in kolum.
If you are requesting data from suppliers, engage them early to allow sufficient time for data collection.
Review data thoroughly before submitting to your EU customers.
